I’m back with my new column 15 seconds of fame, the traditional 15 minutes having been reduced by some Instagram magic! Every month, I’ll feature one talented anonymous bird from this social media, allowing you to discover that person thanks to a little quiz and my favorite video (and as I’ve always had issues sorting things out, I’ll even add two extra links). But please note that even if I’m offering 15 seconds of fame to these music-loving users, it’s actually YEARS of success that I wish and presage with this column! Without further ado, I’ll invite you to get to know Manda Malina. I’ve been struck by the versatility of her voice and the richness of her tone: I’m absolutely convinced that this girl could sing any genre. She’s a freaking chameleon! But I’m very curious to see in which color she’ll feel more at home when her debut album will drop… Watch this space!

And if you think you have what it takes to give me goosebumps too, send me your link to alison@urbansoul.be or @urbansoulmag on Twitter (and by the way, let’s follow each other on Instagram as well, shall we?)

____

Artist name: Manda Malina
Age: 22
City: born and raised in Bjarred, Sweden but live now in Los Angeles.
I’m a: singer/songwriter.
Instruments: I can play some guitar but not for anybody else but me… I used to play violin, but I sucked.
I fell in love with music… : My dad is an audio engineer and I remember the first time I went to a concert for Roxette he worked at when I was 4, so music has always been a big part of my life. I insisted to start taking vocal lessons when I was 11, and my parents just had to agree haha.
I sing because… : I love the feeling when I sing and it is the way I express myself.
My musical pet peeve: When a singer tries to sound exactly like the original artist. Been there done that. In If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys, most singers try to mimic her accent, and it bothers the hell out of me, LMAO.
The song that represents me the best: Crazy Something Normal by Donkeyboy.
3 words to describe my own music: edgy urban pop.
Dream collaboration: James Morrison!!!!
Upcoming projects: I am signed to MorrisMusicGroup and we are recording my first album right now with some top producers and writers in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta.
