On a beautiful August evening (well, I guess it wasn’t that beautiful considering the way I spent it), while scrolling through my Twitter feed, a Vine caught my attention: it was just that guy showing off his magnificent vocal skills. 6 seconds aren’t enough so I started looking for his Instagram (are you calling me a stalker? NO WAY I’M NOT!). I found it (even found two accounts actually!) and I clicked on every single video, enjoying all these 15-seconds snippets. So let me introduce you today to the one whom inspired my new column 15 seconds of fame, the 15 minutes having been reduced by some Instagram magic.

Every month, I’ll feature one talented anonymous bird from this social media, allowing you to discover that person thanks to a little quiz and my favorite video (and as I’ve always had issues sorting things out, I’ll even add two extra links). But please note that even if I’m offering 15 seconds of fame to these music-loving users, it’s actually YEARS of success that I wish and presage with this column! Without further ado, I’ll invite you to get to know Brandon Rivers, of whom the crazy vocal range left me totally speechless.

And if you think you have what it takes to give me goosebumps too, send me your link to alison@urbansoul.be or @urbansoulmag on Twitter (and by the way, let’s follow each other on Instagram as well, shall we?)

Artist name: Brandon Rivers
Age: 19
City: Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA
I’m a: singer-songwriter
Instruments: guitar, trumpet, baritone
I fell in love with music… : when I was about 7 years old. I’ve always loved vibing to melodic R&B tunes. As I grew older, I started getting into more different styles of music (Kimbra, Tori Kelly, Leah McFall) rather than strictly R&B and in that time, I really gained an appreciation and love for music.
I sing because… : it’s fun, it’s a lifestyle and it tells a story – it’s kind of like poetry! I love experimenting and exercising my vocals to discover new things I can do with my voice so it’s really fun!
My musical pet peeve: singers that sing off key throughout an entire song!
The song that represents me the best: I would say Unbreakable Smile by Tori Kelly
3 words to describe my own music: vibe, neo soul, smooth
Dream collaboration: definitely Tori Kelly!
Upcoming projects: I’m in the midst of writing songs for my new EP titled COACH (Chronicles Of A Chronic Hopeful)
